We Are What We Eat
Is it hard for you to figure out what to eat, what’s healthy, what’s not?
Are all the diets out there (paleo, vegan, macro, keto) overwhelming?
Lots of us are disconnected from the food we eat. I’ve been there. It’s hard to understand where food comes from when we’ve always purchased what’s accessible from a supermarket.
I remember being a child visiting my family in Spain who lived on a farm not understanding that chicken didn’t come from the Purdue packaging on a shelf. Until one day my grandma dispatched a chicken right in front of me, later that day my cousin drank milk from a cow’s udder to cup while it was still warm. That day I clearly understood where food came from. Granted I didn’t have chicken nor milk for a few days.
As the years passed, and I continued to visit my family I began to realize that the food in Galicia tasted different from back home in NY. It’s as if it was full of life and energy, and that’s exactly what it was. The food I was eating during my time there was FULL of that life force energy and nutrients that we all need to function on an optimal level. No wonder I had so much more energy and was in a happier state out there. Being close to mother nature, and surrounded by family was a huge factor as well.
When we are consuming foods that lack this life energy and are doused in carcinogenic chemicals and genetically modified ingredients, we in turn lack the life energy that we need to function day to day in a happy state, and can spiral into unhealthy habits looking for energy elsewhere, like coffee and alcohol. Not that there is anything wrong with the occasional coffee or drink, but we have to ask ourselves why we feel pulled to go there, and how can we access the energy and nutrients from the food we eat.
What we eat supports our blood, bones and organs on a cellular level. So if we are constantly eating unhealthy food it affects our state of being and existence in the world. In order to feel good we need to consume healthy food so that we can function at our highest potential. From there beautiful things begin to happen. We begin to think clearer, make better decisions that benefit our highest good and upgrade our lives, This is where the healing begins and continues.
Happy healthy eating!
